F-150 Performance and Capability
The F-150 lineup starts with a 290-horsepower 3.3-liter V6 engine. You can move up to several other powertrains, including an available 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V8, a 325-horsepower twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, and a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. The available diesel option is a 250-horsepower 3.0-liter diesel V6 engine. All engines pair to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
If you’re looking for a combination of capability and fuel economy, the 2021 model comes with an available hybrid powertrain that uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and a 35-kWh electric motor that produce 430 horsepower. This engine also pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers up 25 city/26 highway MPG. Another highlight of the hybrid is the onboard generator, which is a helpful feature to have at job sites. The F-150 also offers rear- or available four-wheel drive. Properly equipped, the F-150 has a maximum tow rating of 14,000 pounds.
The F-150 is obtainable with a Regular Cab, SuperCab, or SuperCrew and three different bed options depending on the cabin you choose. The F-150 has a payload capacity that can reach 3,250 pounds when configured properly. The cabin has numerous storage cubbies for small items and a convenient mobile workspace, which is created by folding the shift lever into the center console for a large, flat space.
All configurations make great use of the available space, but the SuperCrew configuration is the roomiest of the group. You can get the F-150 with available fold-flat front seats as well, which provide a perfect sleep spot for road trips. Several interior upgrades are available, including leather upholstery and heated and ventilated seats.
The F-150 offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that uses the intuitive SYNC® 4 interface, which offers connectivity apps, traffic and weather updates, and telematics for fleet customers. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration are standard, providing you access to your phone for on-the-drive entertainment and information. You’ll also have a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot as standard equipment. Optional upgrades include a Bang & Olufsen sound system, satellite radio, and a 12-inch touchscreen.
As for safety, the F-150 includes Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a device that automatically hits the brakes when it detects a possible collision. The Lane-Keeping System is optional, which alerts you if you drift from your lane and uses gentle steering corrections to guide you back. Another available feature is Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, a feature that adjusts your cruising speed to remain with the movement of traffic on the highway.
