Subaru Forester Engine and Performance
The Forester comes with a 182-horsepower four-cylinder engine that mates to a continuously variable transmission. This engine is capable and reliable, delivering consistent power for daily driving and highway passing and merging.
On the road, the Forester has balanced and smooth handling with accurate, light steering. Off-road, the Forester outperforms rivals with standard all-wheel drive, an 8.7-inch ground clearance, and available X-MODE® traction control, which is capable of handling a variety of road conditions. Properly equipped, the Forester can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
Subaru Forester Interior
The Forester seats up to five people in a spacious cabin with two rows of seats. Passengers enjoy ample headroom and legroom in both seating positions as well as excellent outward visibility that gives the cabin an open feel. Automatic climate control is standard, but you can enhance the comfort with an available panoramic moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and push-button start.
The cargo hold of the Forester is one of the largest in the class and boasts 31.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 76.1 cubic feet with the seats folded with the base model. With all other models, the cargo hold can accommodate 28.9 cubic feet with the seats up and 70.9 cubic feet with the seats folded down. You’ll find numerous small-item storage spaces in the cabin as well, so passengers can stow their keys and wallets.
Subaru Forester Technology
The Forester comes with the STARLINK® infotainment system, an intuitive infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen and a user-friendly interface. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ is included, so you can connect to your phone for entertainment and media on the road. HD radio and satellite radio are included as well. Optional features include a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, an 8-inch touchscreen, a Harman Kardon® sound system, and navigation.
A number of safety features are included for the Forester, including a rearview camera and a Rear Seatbelt Reminder, which is a feature that makes sure your passengers in the back are buckled up before your journey. Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control is also standard, which adjusts your speed on the highway automatically to stay with the flow of traffic.
The Pre-collision Braking System is also included, which alerts you to possible frontal collisions and applies the brakes automatically to lessen its impact. Optional features include DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System and Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, which alerts you if there’s a vehicle in your blind spot when changing lanes.
